On this SerVacation Day Trip, you will enjoy a Volunteer Service Experience with Metropolitan Ministries or Salvation Army, a Scenic Boat Ride on the Hillsborough River including narration, Lunch on the Verandah of the Tampa Bay Hotel or dinner at a nearby restaurant, and the famous Victorian Christmas Stroll at the Plant Museum! Both daytime and evening events are possible.
130 years ago, railroad magnate H.B. Plant built the majestic Tampa Bay Hotel, overlooking the Hillsborough River & Tampa Bay, as a winter refuge welcoming wealthy families from the Northeast who wanted to experience the exotic beauty of Florida. Now it is your chance to re-discover it as well!

Victorian Christmas Stroll at the H.B. Plant Museum
The Victorian Christmas Stroll is one of Tampa’s most beautiful and festive ways to celebrate the holidays and experience Tampa's history. With rooms decorated in the era of the time, featuring artifacts and exhibits showcasing the history, architecture, and exotic accommodations of the Tampa Bay Hotel, accentuated by the finest Christmas decorations and gorgeous lights, you can’t help but be merry!
Volunteer Service Opportunity at Metropolitan Ministries' Holiday Tent
Metropolitan Ministries, one of Tampa’s largest and most impactful charities, provides families in need during the holiday season with food for a full holiday meal at Thanksgiving and Christmas, along with toys for their children. Our tour group will be serving a 3.5 hr shift in the morning or afternoon at their Tampa Holiday Tent (located just up the Hillsborough River from the Plant Museum) where you will be helping to collect, organize, or distribute food and toys.

We require that all our participants are at least 10 years old.

What to Wear/Bring
Holiday Apparel. Comfortable Closed-Toed Shoes. No tank tops.
You will be on your feet and doing moderate walking (about 1 mile) throughout the tour. Most of the day will be spent outdoors under cover but exposed to the temperatures. The volunteer experience requires closed-toed shoes and no tank tops.

We are happy to work with you and your team to incorporate a volunteer experience with another charity or if your schedule does not allow time for volunteering, we can help you to instead raise money for your charity of choice through a sightseeing trip.
